    Ask former President Barack Obama who in 2014 ordered a major counter-terrorism operation directed against the Islamic State under the doctrine of Responsibility to Protect (R2P)

    The counter-terrorism mandate is a fiction. America is the Number One “State Sponsor of Terrorism”.  

    The US has supported Al Qaeda and its affiliated organizations including ISIL for almost half a century since the heyday of the Soviet Afghan war. 

    In 2014 President Obama launched  a “counter-terrorism campaign” allegedly directed against The Islamic State (ISIL, ISIS-Daesh).

    It was an outright act of war disguised as a fake counter-terrorism operation.

    It consisted  in providing a justification for the extensive bombing of Iraq and Syria, largely targeting residential areas and civilians.  

    In turn, ISIS-Daesh was covertly supported and funded by the U.S. and its allies including Israel.  

    Israel was directly involved in President Obama’s “counter-terrorism” bombing raids directed against Syria, while also supporting Al Qaeda and ISIS mercenaries out of the Golan Heights. 

    Since 9/11,  under various acronyms “The Islamic State has gone Global”. 

    The Islamic State is not limited to the Middle East and Central Asia.

    West Africa, Central Africa, Southeast Asia, Western Europe, Russia, Turkey, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, The Philippines, and many more.

    There are Islamic State related jihadist networks supported covertly by Western intelligence in all major regions of the World with the exception of Latin America. The Islamic States (Al Qaeda, ISIS et al) provides the U.S. as well as Israel the  justification of “Going after the terrorists”.

    Syria 

    In December 2024,  Al Qaeda terrorists supported by US-NATO are portrayed as freedom fighters  involved in the “Liberation of Syria”. Described by the media as “rebels” the main actor of the of the coup d’Etat are Al Qaeda affiliated mercenaries, all of whom are supported by the US-NATO-Israel military and intelligence apparatus. .

    According to the the BBC “democracy” is to be reinstated under the leadership  Abu Mohammed al-Jawlani.  of an Islamist terrorist entity entitled Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), previously affiliated to Al  Qaeda. [the Data base].

    Ironically, this “good guy” Al Qaeda leader Al-Jawlani is still categorized as a terrorist by the U.S, State Department. 

    And the West applauds, celebrating the victory of  Tahir Al Sham. 

    Their unspoken objective is to install an Islamist State led by Al Qaeda “good guy” proxies, supported and endorsed in chorus by the West’s democratic governments.

    The Global War on Terrorism is Fake

    Going after ” Islamic terrorists”, carrying out a worldwide pre-emptive war to “Protect the American Homeland” are used to justify a military agenda.

    The Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) is a creation of US intelligence. Washington’s “Counter-terrorism Agenda” in Iraq and Syria consists in Supporting the Terrorists.  

    The incursion of the Islamic State (IS) brigades into Iraq starting in June 2014 was part of a carefully planned military-intelligence operation supported covertly by the US, NATO and Israel.

    The counter-terrorism mandate is a fiction. America is the Number One “State Sponsor of Terrorism” 

    The Islamic State is protected by the US and its allies. If they had wanted to eliminate the Islamic State brigades, they could have “carpet” bombed their convoys of Toyota pickup trucks when they crossed the desert from Syria into Iraq in June [2014]

    The  Syro-Arabian Desert is open territory (see map below). With state of the art jet fighter aircraft (F15, F22 Raptor, CF-18) it would have been  -from a military standpoint-  a rapid and expedient surgical operation

    It could not have been undertaken without the unbending support of  the Western media which has upheld Obama’s initiative as a counter-terrorism operation.  

     

     

     

    Twenty Six Things 

    THE HISTORICAL ORIGINS OF AL QAEDA

    1. The US has supported Al Qaeda and its affiliated organizations for almost half a century since the heyday of the Soviet Afghan war. 

    2. CIA training camps were set up in Pakistan.  In the ten year period from 1982 to 1992, some 35,000 jihadists from 43 Islamic countries were recruited by the CIA to fight in the Afghan jihad.

    “Advertisements, paid for from CIA funds, were placed in newspapers and newsletters around the world offering inducements and motivations to join the Jihad.”

    3Since the Reagan Administration, Washington has supported the Islamic terror network.

    Ronald Reagan called the terrorists “freedom fighters”. The US supplied weapons to the Islamic brigades.  It was all for “a good cause”: fighting the Soviet Union and regime change, leading to the demise of a secular government in Afghanistan.

    4. Jihadist textbooks  were  published by the University of Nebraska. “. “The United States spent millions of dollars to supply Afghan schoolchildren with textbooks filled with violent images and militant Islamic teachings”

     

    5. Osama bin Laden, America’s bogyman and founder of Al Qaeda was recruited by the CIA in 1979 at the very outset of the US sponsored jihadist war against Afghanistan . He was 22 years old and was trained in a CIA sponsored guerilla training camp.

    Al Qaeda was not behind the 9/11 Attacks. September 11, 2001 provided a justification for waging a war against Afghanistan on the grounds that Afghanistan was a state sponsor of terrorism, supportive of Al Qaeda. The 9/11 attacks were instrumental in the formulation of the “Global War on Terrorism”.

    THE ISLAMIC STATE (ISIL)

    6. The Islamic State (ISIL) was originally an Al Qaeda affiliated entity created by US intelligence with the support of Britain’s MI6, Israel’s Mossad, Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and Saudi Arabia’s General Intelligence Presidency (GIP), Ri’āsat Al-Istikhbārāt Al-’Āmah ( رئاسة الاستخبارات العامة‎).

    7. The ISIL brigades were involved in the US-NATO supported insurgency in Syria directed against the government of  Bashar al Assad.

    8.  NATO and the Turkish High Command were responsible for the recruitment of ISIL and Al Nusrah mercenaries from the outset of the Syrian insurgency in March 2011. According to Israeli intelligence sources, this initiative consisted in:

    “a campaign to enlist thousands of Muslim volunteers in Middle East countries and the Muslim world to fight alongside the Syrian rebels. The Turkish army would house these volunteers, train them and secure their passage into Syria. (DEBKAfile, NATO to give rebels anti-tank weapons, August 14, 2011.)

    9.There are Western Special Forces and Western intelligence operatives within the ranks of the ISIL. British Special Forces and MI6 have been involved in training jihadist rebels in Syria.

    10. Western military specialists on contract to the Pentagon have trained the terrorists in the use of chemical weapons.

    “The United States and some European allies are using defense contractors to train Syrian rebels on how to secure chemical weapons stockpiles in Syria, a senior U.S. official and several senior diplomats told CNN Sunday. ( CNN Report, December 9, 2012)

    11. The ISIL’s practice of beheadings is part of the US sponsored terrorist training programs implemented in Saudi Arabia and Qatar.

    12. Recruited by America’s ally, a large number of ISIL mercenaries are convicted criminals released from Saudi prisons on condition they join the ISILSaudi death row inmates were recruited to join the terror brigades. 

    13. Israel  has supported  the ISIL and Al Nusrah brigades out of the Golan Heights.

    Jihadist fighters have met Israeli IDF officers as well as Prime Minister Netanyahu. The IDF top brass tacitly acknowledges that “global jihad elements inside Syria” [ISIL and Al Nusrah] are supported by Israel. See  image below:

    SYRIA AND IRAQ

    14 The ISIL are the foot soldiers  of the Western military alliance. Their unspoken mandate is to wreck havoc and destruction in Syria and Iraq, acting on behalf of their US sponsors.

    15. US Senator John McCain has met up with jihadist terrorist leaders in Syria. (see picture right)

    16  The Islamic State (IS) militia, which is currently the alleged target of  a US-NATO bombing campaign under a “counter-terrorism” mandate, continues to be supported covertly by the US.  Washington and its allies continue to provide military aid to the Islamic State.

    17. US and allied bombings are not targeting the ISIL, they are bombing the economic infrastructure of Iraq and Syria including factories and oil refineries.

    18.  The IS caliphate project is part of a longstanding US foreign policy agenda to carve up Iraq and Syria into separate territories: A Sunni Islamist Caliphate, an Arab Shia Republic, a Republic of Kurdistan.

    THE GLOBAL WAR ON TERRORISM (GWOT)

    19. “The Global War on Terrorism” (GWOT) is presented as a “Clash of Civilizations”, a war between competing values and religions, when in reality it is an outright war of conquest, guided by strategic and economic objectives.

    20 U.S. sponsored Al Qaeda terror brigades (covertly supported by Western intelligence) have been deployed in Mali, Niger, Nigeria, the Central African Republic, Somalia and Yemen.

    These various affiliated Al Qaeda entities in the Middle East, sub-Saharan Africa  and Asia are CIA sponsored “intelligence assets”. They are used by Washington to wreck havoc,  create internal conflicts and destabilize sovereign countries.

    21 Boko Haram in Nigeria, Al Shabab in Somalia, the Libya Islamic Fighting Group (LIFG) (supported by NATO in 2011),  Al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM),  Jemaah Islamiah (JI) in Indonesia,  among other Al Qaeda affiliated groups are supported covertly by Western intelligence.

    22. The US is also supporting Al Qaeda affiliated terrorist organizations in the Xinjiang Uighur autonomous region of China. The underlying objective is to trigger political instability in Western China.

    Chinese jihadists are reported to have received “terrorist training” from the Islamic State “in order to conduct attacks in China”. The declared objective of these Chinese-based jihadist entities (which serves the interests of the US)  is to establish a Islamic caliphate extending into Western China.  (Michel Chossudovsky, America’s War on Terrorism, Global Research, Montreal, 2005, Chapter 2).

    HOMEGROWN TERRORISTS

    23 The Terrorists R Us:  While the US is the unspoken architect of the Islamic State,  Obama’s holy mandate is to protect America against ISIL attacks.

    24 The homegrown terrorist threat is a fabrication.  It is promoted by Western governments and the media with a view to repealing civil liberties and installing a police state. The terror attacks by alleged jihadists and terror warnings are invariably staged events. They are used to create an atmosphere of fear and intimidation.

    In turn, the arrests, trials and sentences of “Islamic terrorists” sustain the legitimacy of America’s Homeland Security State and law enforcement apparatus, which has become increasingly militarized.

    The ultimate objective is to instill in the minds of millions of Americans that the enemy is real and the U.S. Administration will protect the lives of its citizens.

    25.  The “counter-terrorism” campaign against the Islamic State has contributed to the demonization of Muslims, who in the eyes of Western public opinion are increasingly  associated with the jihadists.

    26  Anybody who dares to question the validity of the “Global War on Terrorism” is branded a terrorist and subjected to the anti-terrorist laws.

    The ultimate objective of the “Global War on Terrorism” is to subdue the citizens, totally depoliticize social life in America, prevent people from thinking and conceptualizing, from analyzing facts and challenging the legitimacy of the inquisitorial social order which rules America.

    The Obama Administration has imposed a diabolical consensus with the support of its allies, not to mention the complicit role of the United Nations Security Council.  The Western media has embraced the consensus; it has described the Islamic State as an independent entity, an outside enemy which threatens the Western World.

    The Big Lie has become the Truth. 

    Say no to the “Big Lie”. Spread the message.

    The truth is ultimately a powerful weapon.

    الحرب العالمية ضد الإرهاب مزيفة

    إن ملاحقة “الإرهابيين الإسلاميين”، وتنفيذ حرب وقائية عالمية “لحماية الوطن الأمريكي” تُستخدم لتبرير أجندة عسكرية.

    إن تنظيم الدولة الإسلامية في العراق والشام (داعش) هو من صنع أجهزة الاستخبارات الأميركية.  وتتلخص “أجندة مكافحة الإرهاب” التي تتبناها واشنطن في العراق وسوريا في دعم الإرهابيين.  

    كان توغل كتائب تنظيم الدولة الإسلامية (داعش) في العراق بدءاً من يونيو/حزيران 2014 جزءاً من عملية عسكرية استخباراتية مخططة بعناية بدعم سري من الولايات المتحدة وحلف شمال الأطلسي وإسرائيل.

    إن مهمة مكافحة الإرهاب مجرد خيال، فأميركا هي “الدولة الراعية للإرهاب” رقم واحد. 

    إن الدولة الإسلامية محمية من قبل الولايات المتحدة وحلفائها. ولو أرادوا القضاء على ألوية الدولة الإسلامية، لكان بوسعهم قصف قوافلها من شاحنات تويوتا الصغيرة عندما عبرت الصحراء من سوريا إلى العراق في يونيو/حزيران 2014.

    1. لقد دعمت الولايات المتحدة تنظيم القاعدة والمنظمات التابعة له لمدة نصف قرن تقريبا، منذ ذروة الحرب السوفييتية الأفغانية. 

    2. تم إنشاء معسكرات تدريب تابعة لوكالة الاستخبارات المركزية الأميركية في باكستان.  وفي الفترة الممتدة من عام 1982 إلى عام 1992، قامت وكالة الاستخبارات المركزية الأميركية بتجنيد نحو 35 ألف جهادي من 43 دولة إسلامية للقتال في الجهاد الأفغاني.

    4. نشرت جامعة نبراسكا كتبًا مدرسية جهادية . “. “أنفقت الولايات المتحدة ملايين الدولارات لتزويد أطفال المدارس الأفغانية بكتب مدرسية مليئة بالصور العنيفة والتعاليم الإسلامية المتشددة”

     

    5. تم تجنيد أسامة بن لادن، زعيم تنظيم القاعدة ورجل أميركا المخيف، من قبل وكالة الاستخبارات المركزية الأميركية في عام 1979 في بداية الحرب الجهادية التي ترعاها الولايات المتحدة ضد أفغانستان. كان يبلغ من العمر 22 عاماً وتلقى تدريبه في معسكر تدريب حرب العصابات الذي ترعاه وكالة الاستخبارات المركزية الأميركية.

    لم يكن تنظيم القاعدة وراء هجمات الحادي عشر من سبتمبر/أيلول.  فقد وفرت أحداث الحادي عشر من سبتمبر/أيلول 2001 مبرراً لشن حرب ضد أفغانستان على أساس أن أفغانستان دولة راعية للإرهاب وداعمة لتنظيم القاعدة. وكانت هجمات الحادي عشر من سبتمبر/أيلول بمثابة أداة أساسية في صياغة “الحرب العالمية على الإرهاب”.

    6. كان تنظيم الدولة الإسلامية (داعش) في الأصل كيانًا تابعًا لتنظيم القاعدة أنشأته المخابرات الأمريكية  بدعم من جهاز المخابرات البريطاني MI6، والموساد الإسرائيلي، وجهاز المخابرات الباكستاني (ISI)، ورئاسة الاستخبارات العامة في المملكة العربية السعودية (رئاسة الاستخبارات العامة‎).

    7. شاركت كتائب داعش في التمرد الذي دعمته الولايات المتحدة وحلف شمال الأطلسي في سوريا ضد حكومة بشار الأسد.

    8.   كان حلف شمال الأطلسي والقيادة العليا التركية مسؤولين عن تجنيد مرتزقة تنظيم الدولة الإسلامية وجبهة النصرة منذ بداية التمرد السوري في مارس/آذار 2011. ووفقاً لمصادر استخباراتية إسرائيلية، فإن هذه المبادرة كانت تتألف من:

    “حملة لتجنيد آلاف المتطوعين المسلمين في دول الشرق الأوسط والعالم الإسلامي للقتال إلى جانب المتمردين السوريين. وسوف يتولى الجيش التركي إيواء هؤلاء المتطوعين وتدريبهم وتأمين مرورهم إلى سوريا.  (ديبكا فايل، الناتو يزود المتمردين بأسلحة مضادة للدبابات، 14 أغسطس/آب 2011).

    9. هناك قوات خاصة غربية وعملاء استخبارات غربيون ضمن صفوف تنظيم الدولة الإسلامية في العراق والشام. وقد شاركت القوات الخاصة البريطانية وجهاز المخابرات البريطاني في تدريب المتمردين الجهاديين في سوريا.

    10. قام خبراء عسكريون غربيون يعملون مع البنتاغون بتدريب الإرهابيين على استخدام الأسلحة الكيميائية.

    “أفاد مسؤول أميركي كبير وعدد من الدبلوماسيين الكبار لشبكة CNN الأحد أن الولايات المتحدة وبعض حلفائها الأوروبيين يستخدمون شركات مقاولات دفاعية لتدريب المتمردين السوريين على كيفية تأمين مخزونات الأسلحة الكيماوية في سوريا. (  تقرير شبكة CNN،  9 ديسمبر/كانون الأول 2012)

    11. إن ممارسة تنظيم الدولة الإسلامية المتمثلة في قطع الرؤوس هي جزء من برامج تدريب الإرهابيين التي ترعاها الولايات المتحدة والتي يتم تنفيذها في المملكة العربية السعودية وقطر.

     12. تم تجنيد عدد كبير من مرتزقة داعش من قبل حليف أمريكا، وهم مجرمون مدانون تم إطلاق سراحهم من السجون السعودية بشرط الانضمام إلى داعش . تم تجنيد السجناء السعوديين المحكوم عليهم بالإعدام للانضمام إلى ألوية الإرهاب. 

    13.  قدمت إسرائيل الدعم لمجموعتي داعش والنصرة المتواجدتين في مرتفعات الجولان.

    التقى مقاتلون جهاديون بضباط في جيش الدفاع الإسرائيلي وكذلك رئيس الوزراء نتنياهو . ويعترف كبار قادة جيش الدفاع الإسرائيلي ضمناً بأن “عناصر الجهاد العالمي داخل سوريا”  [تنظيم الدولة الإسلامية وجبهة النصرة] مدعومة من إسرائيل. انظر   الصورة أدناه:

    18.  إن مشروع الخلافة الذي يروج له تنظيم الدولة الإسلامية هو جزء من أجندة طويلة الأمد في السياسة الخارجية الأميركية تهدف إلى تقسيم العراق وسوريا إلى مناطق منفصلة: الخلافة الإسلامية السنية، والجمهورية العربية الشيعية، وجمهورية كردستان.

    الحرب العالمية على الإرهاب

    21 بوكو حرام في نيجيريا، حركة الشباب في الصومال،  الجماعة الإسلامية المقاتلة في ليبيا  (بدعم من حلف شمال الأطلسي في عام 2011)،   تنظيم القاعدة في بلاد المغرب الإسلامي ،   الجماعة الإسلامية  في إندونيسيا، من بين جماعات أخرى تابعة لتنظيم القاعدة. وتحظى هذه الجماعات بدعم سري من المخابرات الغربية.

    22. كما تدعم الولايات المتحدة أيضًا المنظمات الإرهابية التابعة لتنظيم القاعدة في منطقة شينجيانج الأويغورية ذاتية الحكم في الصين . والهدف الأساسي من ذلك هو إثارة عدم الاستقرار السياسي في غرب الصين.

    وتشير التقارير إلى أن الجهاديين الصينيين تلقوا “تدريباً إرهابياً” من تنظيم الدولة الإسلامية “من أجل تنفيذ هجمات في الصين”. والهدف المعلن لهذه الكيانات الجهادية المتمركزة في الصين (والتي تخدم مصالح الولايات المتحدة) هو إقامة خلافة إسلامية تمتد إلى غرب الصين.     في المقابل، تعمل الاعتقالات والمحاكمات والأحكام الصادرة بحق “الإرهابيين الإسلاميين” على تعزيز شرعية جهاز الأمن الداخلي الأميركي وأجهزة إنفاذ القانون، التي أصبحت مسلحة على نحو متزايد.

    الهدف النهائي هو غرس في عقول الملايين من الأميركيين أن العدو حقيقي وأن الإدارة الأميركية ستحمي أرواح مواطنيها.

    Dennis Kucinich is a powerful voice. 

    “The American people were told a fairy tale that we were supporting [Al Qaeda] freedom fighters against a dictator. What we actually accomplished was funding the terrorists who now murder Christians, massacre Alawite villages, and impose radical Islamic rule in areas they seize.”

    While many in Washington claim to defend Christianity and Western values, their policies have led to the systematic annihilation of some of the world’s oldest Christian communities. The same politicians who posture as defenders of faith have not just turned a blind eye to the suffering of Christians in the Middle East, from Palestine’s West Bank and Gaza to Lebanon and Syria, they have chosen instead to fund their murderers.

    U.S. tax dollars funneled through the CIA and USAID, have played a pivotal role in arming and enabling extremist factions whose ascendance has resulted in atrocities.

    The forces of Syria’s new self-proclaimed “interim president” a Salafist, Sunni Muslim who currently goes by the name Ahmed al-Shara, over this past weekend lined up civilians, both Alawites and Christians, against the wall and executed them. Their crime: Infidelity to Salafism, a strict interpretation of Islamic law.

    Elizabeth and I have visited Syria many times. We have traveled through it and experienced a beautiful, secular country where being Syrian was more important than a difference in faith, where communities attending churches, synagogues and mosques lived as one.

    Syria has been torn apart over the last decades by external interventionism and ignorance giving rise to extremism and the worst humanitarian disaster of the 21st Century.

    Many Syrian Christians historically supported the Assad government and its Ba’athist secular ideology because it guaranteed religious freedom and protected minorities.

    Unlike certain Islamist movements, the Assad regime maintained a secular state where Christians could practice their faith without persecution. Christians held positions in the government, military, and business sectors.

    The Alawites are a religious minority in Syria, with smaller communities in Lebanon and Turkey. The Assad family which ruled from 1970 to earlier this year is Alawite.

    The Alawite practice of Islam incorporates elements of Gnosticism, Neoplatonism, and Christianity. It is distinct from mainstream Islamic sects. Former President Assad promoted secularism consistent with Alawite support for secular governance.

    Soul-searing videos have surfaced from the mass murders of recent days: Alawite and Christian Syrians pleading for their lives while being dehumanized, ordered to crawl on all fours and bark like dogs to prepare for “dying like dogs,” in a fusillade of bullets. The killers are seen being cautioned to turn off their phones and not to share such videos so as not to turn world opinion against them.

    Public relations are always to be desired to cover up cold-blooded murder and its designs and to protect the West’s fantasy that the new self-declared rulers of Syria are kinder and gentler than the propagandized descriptions of their predecessors.

    How did the situation get to this point?

    The ongoing humanitarian crisis and severe sectarian violence in Syria are direct outcomes of policies dating back to the “Clean Break” doctrine of 1996, by a D.C. think tank which counseled Benjamin Netanyahu to make a “clean break” from “the previous government’s ‘peace process’.” (their quotes) which it saw as a serious weakness.

    The Clean Break doctrine laid the groundwork for aggressive policies toward Syria which emerged through an effort coordinated by the Bush White House as several authors of the Clean Break strategy ascended to federal government policy-making positions.

    The “Clean Break” approach was further advanced by Hillary Clinton, who, as Secretary of State, together with CIA Director David Petraeus, proposed arming Syrian rebels.

    The White House rejected the plan, but, somehow, the momentum generated to overthrow Assad was propelled by the CIA, President Obama’s 2012 presidential directive, which explicitly called for the overthrow of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, merely authorized what was underway without his permission.

    It was not the last time the CIA found a way to subvert Obama in Syria. On September 12, 2016, a ceasefire agreement was negotiated by the US Secretary of State, John Kerry and the Russian Foreign Minister, Sergey Lavrov, aimed at the two major powers cooperating to limit extremist groups.

    According to a source familiar with the arrangements, Robert Malley, Obama’s special Middle East envoy, was planning to fly to Lebanon and then to travel to Damascus to meet with Assad, to capitalize on the Kerry-Lavrov ceasefire and open the possibility of a new direction in U.S.-Syrian relations.

    The very next day a US airstrike killed over 100 Syrian soldiers. Malley’s trip was cancelled and the ceasefire ended within hours.

    The plan to oust Assad went into high gear. Obama was played by Hillary Clinton and the CIA in Syria, just as he was played by them in Libya.

    Judicial Watch obtained documents which proved the U.S. Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) was aware that the strategy of supporting opposition forces—largely comprised of Salafist and extremist factions, including Al-Qaeda affiliates—would lead directly to the establishment of a “Salafist principality” in eastern Syria, with a strict interpretation of Sunni Islam.

    The DIA explicitly stated this outcome was precisely “what the supporting powers to the opposition want, in order to isolate the Syrian regime.”

    The Clean Break, Benjamin Netanyahu, the CIA, Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, and the Defense Intelligence Agency are all responsible for the disintegration in Syria which has resulted in extreme sectarian violence. Most of those who are being killed today were then just children, in a country where communities attending mosques, churches and synagogues existed side by side.

    In Syria, America’s Middle East machinations scaled tragic heights. Under the Obama administration, the CIA launched “Timber Sycamore” in 2012, a covert operation that funneled billions of dollars in weapons and training to so-called “moderate” connected to Al-Queda, Al-Nusra and ISIS. A good deal of weapons paid for by U.S. taxpayers and intended to be used against Syria, ended up in the for sale on the black market.

    The American people were told a fairy tale that we were supporting freedom fighters against a dictator. What we actually accomplished was funding the terrorists who now murder Christians, massacre Alawite villages, and impose radical Islamic rule in areas they seize.

    It was a reckless intervention, driven by a geopolitical obsession with weakening Iran and Russia. It has not only destroyed Syria but it has also created a breeding ground for global terrorism.

    The vaunted Timber Sycamore escapade was said to be eliminated by the first Trump Administration, yet the intent of Timber Sycamore, ousting Assad, continued under the Biden Administration. For those students of dendrology, the sycamore is a tree characterized by weak limbs and large leaves which decay slowly upon falling to earth.

    As I reflect on America’s disastrous policies in Syria, I am left with a haunting question: Why would the United States pursue strategies that have led to the slaughter of Christians and Alawites, the destruction of ancient communities, and the triumph of extremism?

    For years, as a Member of the House of Representatives, I stood on the floor of Congress and sounded the alarm about reckless regime-change policies. I opposed the neoconservative “Clean Break” strategy.

    I spoke out against the Iraq War in 2002, knowing it would unleash sectarian violence and provide a breeding ground for jihadist groups. I rejected the illegal U.S. intervention in Libya in 2011, warning that removing Gaddafi would turn Libya into a failed state and open the door to Islamic extremists.

    Each time, I was ignored, dismissed, or even vilified by those Washington insiders eager to remake the world in their own image, (and to cash in while doing so) without regard to the human cost.

    I demanded transparency.

    I demanded accountability.

    I called for a congressional investigation into the CIA’s role in arming extremist groups.

    I was met with official silence and media-induced public ridicule.

    In 2013, I opposed Obama’s plan to bomb Syria, warning that U.S. military intervention would do nothing but strengthen jihadists. When I traveled to Syria in 2017 with Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, I spoke directly with Christian leaders, civilians, and government officials who told us what the American media refused to report: The U.S. was not helping the Syrian people—it was destroying them.

    I came back determined to expose the truth, to tell the American people that our tax dollars were funding a war that targeted innocent people, people whose families had lived in the region for centuries.

    Most in mainstream media, every loyal to war narratives, dismissed the findings. The bipartisan political establishment stayed the course, ensuring that weapons and resources continued to flow into the hands of extremists.

    Now, in the aftermath of Assad’s fall, the worst-case scenario has come to pass. Cities that once housed some of the world’s oldest Christian communities lie in ruins, their people slaughtered or driven into exile. Christians and Alawites are labeled heretics by the very groups America helped empower.

    And I ask again: Why?

    Why would America champion policies that lead to the killing of Christians, the destruction of churches, the massacre of Alawites and the rise of radical jihadists? Why did our leaders knowingly aid those who murdered the very people America claimed to want to protect?

    The answer lies in a corrupt, immoral foreign policy dictated not by ethics, human rights, or even national security, but by the interests of the military-industrial complex and strategists who view human lives as pawns in a geopolitical chess game.

    This tragic situation in Syria is but one example of in the catalogue of chaos which is U.S. foreign policy; Iran in 1953, Guatemala in 1954, Lebanon in the 1980s, Afghanistan in the 1980s-90s, to Iraq post-2003 are notable examples of similar perfidy, though these debacles are by no means exclusive.

    U.S. foreign policy all too often reveals calculations to excite and exploit sectarian, religious, or ethnic divisions to achieve vainglorious geopolitical goals which blowback in disintegration and defeat.

    Like a coterie of Snidley Whiplashes “Curses, foiled again!” our policy geniuses ignore the devastation they have wrought and proceed headlong into plotting the next disasters: future prolonged civil wars, systemic persecution, massive human suffering, refugee crises, and enduring political instability.

    The deliberate exacerbation of sectarian tensions has repeatedly left behind weakened states, emboldened extremist groups, and countless innocent victims. It perpetuates human suffering on a vast scale. It has severely damaged America’s global reputation. It has fostered extremism, instability, and ongoing conflict.

    I have spent my career fighting against these wars of aggression. I have cautioned that regime-change operations never lead to peace, only to greater suffering.

    Now, with the fall of the Assad government to extremists, the nightmare that I and others warned about has become reality. The Syrian war, fueled by U.S. intervention and covert operations, has led to the very outcome that interventionists claimed they were trying to prevent—a bloodbath.

    The neocons, interventionists, and war profiteers have achieved their aims, their machinations whitewashed by a reckless and complicit mainstream media whose ignorant naïveté or willful deception has paved the way for these atrocities. Another government toppled, another nation in ruins, and another generation of innocent people paying the price for metastatic arrogance.

    Americans believe in religious freedom. Our government does not practice that abroad.

    Americans believe in human dignity. Our government pulverizes it in other countries, with our tax dollars.

    Americans want peace. But we will never have peace until we confront the reality that our own government has been spending trillions of our precious tax dollars in furtherance of stirring conflict and igniting wars, to the benefit of a few and to the manifest detriment of the rest of us.

    I did all I could while in office. Now I pray for those suffering under the yoke of oppression we have caused, and pray for America to change course.

    “The ‘American Century’ Is Over, and It Died in Syria” declared Hal Brands in Bloomberg View on March 8. Yes and thank God it is over. The house of truth fell on the American Century’s terrorist witch in Syria; Only its dangling scrawny legs are left to be seen – and the ruby slippers of reality that might help get America back on the road to maybe, someday, leading by example instead of Tomahawk missiles. It’s time for the witch to curl up and finish dying already so humanity everywhere can sing, “Ding dong the witch is dead” (from the 1938 classic, “The Wizard of Oz”)  and Syrians can get their country and some of their future back.

    Everything but Brands’ conclusion is routine, absurd “American Centurion” lies and propaganda. His introduction is this: “The forces of democracy and the great moral gains of the New World Order have given way to great-power conflict and the new autocracy.”

    Examining the “democracy and great moral gains” of the American Century, meaning US foreign policy post WWII, reveals a reality that is dark, aggressive, anti-democratic, immoral and ultimately against US interests as well as the interests of civilization itself. The American Century policies have made a mockery of democracy and morality; have stripped any vestige of honor from our military; have created the refugee crisis that may destabilize Europe; and have sucked our economy dry while spending trillions needlessly killing millions. All this while bowing down and selling hundreds of billions of dollars in weapons to the most autocratic, terrorist supporting regime on the planet, Saudi Arabia. The American Centurions refuse to take responsibility for any of it – instead continually blame others in order to justify more of the same failures.

    All this has never been more apparent than in the illegal, dirty war against Syria.

    The first paragraph alone is a study in misleading, false assertions. It begins:

    For anyone who thought that the winding down of the campaign against the Islamic State would cause the Syrian civil war to recede from the headlines, the last few weeks have been a rude awakening. 

    A US campaign against the Islamic State never existed.

    ISIS was incubated in America’s Camp Bucca prison system in Iraq. In 2012, General Michael Flynn, head of the Defense Intelligence Agency at the time, wrote a report for the Obama administration outlining the intelligence revealing the US backed insurgency in Syria as dominated by Wahhabi/Salafists, the Muslim Brotherhood, and Al Qaeda Iraq and that their intentions were to establish an intolerant, violent Islamist state in northeastern Syria. In an interview with Mehdi Hasan on Al Jazeera’s Head to Head, Flynn stated flatly that the administration made a “willful decision” to use those armed jihadist groups as assets in order to put pressure on President Assad.

    The US coalition that began in September of 2014 did not concern itself with fighting ISIS after that terrorist group had moved onto Al Nusra’s territory (Al Qaeda in Syria), areas that were originally taken over by the equally sectarian mercenaries of the US formed Free Syrian Army. The coalition never fired on the massive ISIS oil convoys heading towards Turkey that provided the income stream required for the growth of ISIS for example.

    In fact, a WikiLeaks released audio recording of John Kerry speaking to the western-backed Syrian ex-pat opposition at the Dutch Mission of the UN on September 22, 2016 (the political opposition that is not even supported by its “rebel” militias in Syria) spelling out precisely that Russia came in after Syria had invited them because the US was watching ISIS grow out of control in order to put pressure on Assad (and provide justification for later, increased illegal US activities in Syria):

    The reason Russia came in is because ISIL was getting stronger. Daesh was threatening the possibility of going to Damascus at some point and that’s why Russia came in. Because they didn’t want a Daesh government and they supported Assad. And we knew that this was growing, we were watching. We saw that Daesh was growing in strength and we thought Assad was [indecipherable]. We thought however, that we could probably manage that Assad might then negotiate. Instead of negotiating, he got Putin to support him. John Kerry

    While this damning confession by the head of the US State Department admitting that the US led coalition, marketed as an “international fight against ISIS” was in fact sitting illegally and idly in Syria watching ISIS grow and prosper received a tiny bit of coverage (in the New York Times, The Guardian and The Washington Times),  basically the western main stream media responded en masse with awkward silence, not worthy of mention apparently when there were so many more important stories like coverage of any given Kardashian’s backside.

    Had the news media hammered this story like they do others, it would have been a game-changer. Instead of caving to the pressure, the shrewd Assad had appealed to Russia, whose votes with China on the UN Security Council had already stopped another Iraq War murderous farce from happening in Syria. Putin agreed, the Russians came in, hitting and basically ending the profitable ISIS oil convoys and supporting the Syrian Arab Army, the army of the legitimate government of the sovereign state of Syria, in its fight against ISIS, Al Qaeda and related terrorist groups.

    In the meantime, ISIS continued receiving weapons from US and Saudi Arabia sponsored “rebel” groups as detailed in the 2017 Conflict Armament Research report. I was in Deir Ezzor in October of 2017 and saw one of the vast ISIS weapons arsenals captured by the Syrian Army and allies from Al Mayadeen including a 155mm Howitzer. The US led coalition had bombed strategic bridges on roads surrounding Deir Ezzor city to isolate it and impede advances by Syria and its allies to take on ISIS in Ar Raqqa. The blatant slaughter on September 17, 2016 by the US on the long-held Syrian Army position at Al Thardah killed over 100 Syrian soldiers who had been fighting against ISIS for years and the US apparently coordinated with ISIS fighters who immediately captured the strategic hill overlooking the airfield. More recently, the US, after indiscriminately bombing Ar Raqqa into near oblivion, arranged for the SDF, its latest mercenary army of mostly Kurdish separatists, to make deals with hundreds of ISIS fighters to escape Ar Raqqa and live to fight another day. There is some evidence that some of those terrorist fighters joined the SDF soon thereafter.

    Obviously, the US strategy has never had anything to do with combatting its ISIS asset but has everything to do with using that pretext to establish its illegal military presence complete with military bases in Syria and taking control over the northeast section of the country that not coincidentally holds the richest oil fields.  In reality, the US did not liberate Raqqa and a huge swath of surrounding Syrian land – it stole it. The Syrian Army and its Russian, Iranian and Hezbollah allies did liberate three of the four ISIS caliphate command centers: Deir Ezzor, Al Mayadeen and Abu Kamal, as well as most ISIS-held villages in the area, in heavy, hard fighting often with terrible casualty rates. These victories, not the American/SDF blasting of Ar Raqqa, led to the victory over the terrorists’ caliphate in October and November and while there are still ISIS fighters and some militias operating, its backbone down the Euphrates is broken. The single greatest piece of evidence that the US mission was not to fight ISIS is the inescapable fact that the Americans are not only still there but intending to create a 30,000 strong mercenary army in the area they now illegally occupy. The 2018 budget allocates yet another $500 million to train and equip undesignated fighters with an estimated $400 million of that going to weapons alone. The Pentagon has estimated the cost of the US (illegal) occupation will be $4 billion this year.

    The US forces are operating in Syria in total violation of both national and international law. The Authorized Use of Military Force does not apply when US official documents and officials’ statements clearly show that the US has been supporting various terrorist groups in Syria – not fighting them. Not only is the US presence unwelcomed by the legitimate government of Syria but also by the vast majority of the Syrian people of all family and faith groups, including most of the Sunni majority, who support their president and army against this US orchestrated regime change war using foreign-sponsored proxy militant armies.

    The War in Syria was never a Civil War.

    Brands’ labels the war against Syria as a civil war as government officials and western journalists have done for the past seven years but that’s never been the case.

    “American Centurions” have had Syria in their sights to control since 1949 when the CIA attempted its first coup there. In 1956-57 numerous plots and assassinations were planned and tried.  In 1987 the CIA’s Foreign Subversion and Instability Center, Office of Global Issues wrote the declassified “Syria: Scenarios of Dramatic Political Change” which outlined hoped-for scenarios that would oust Hafez al-Assad. From 2004-2008, the CIA conducted military raids in eastern Syria, one of which resulted in eight Syrians killed whom the Syrian government claimed were civilians. Thousands of Damascenes took to the streets in a protest rally against the US attack.

    The current war is an intensified extension of this same policy – a policy that has routinely violated the sovereignty of Syria while promoting destabilization. In 2003 in the London Review of Books, Charles Glass asked, Is Syria Next? He said:

    For the men who came to rule the United States with the inauguration of George W. Bush, the Syrian menace was nothing new. Some of them had long wanted to wage war against Iraq as a way of containing Syria. ‘Israel can shape its strategic environment, in co-operation with Turkey and Jordan, by weakening, containing and even rolling back Syria,’ a Study Group on a New Israeli Strategy advised Benjamin Netanyahu when he assumed office in 1996. This group’s paper, ‘A Clean Break: A New Strategy for Securing the Realm’, suggested that efforts should ‘focus on removing Saddam Hussein from power in Iraq – an important Israeli strategic objective in its own right – as a means of foiling Syria’s regional ambitions’. 

    In 2004, the US hit Syria with crippling sanctions. In 2005 President Bashar al-Assad and Hezbollah were accused of assassinating Rafic Harriri although the special UN tribunal created in 2007 to investigate the killing has only now, eleven years later, been able to declare it “an act of terrorism.” Yet Syria pulled its troops out of Lebanon. In the summer of 2005 Christiane Amanpour of CNN went to Damascus to interview President Assad and informed him bluntly that “regime change was headed his way” and that the US was “already picking out new leaders for Syria.” In 2006, Israel invaded Lebanon only to be routed in a humiliating defeat at the hands of Hezbollah with support from Syria. By the end of 2006 the Charge d’Affaires at the US Embassy in Damascus wrote a cable, “Influencing the SARG (Syrian Arab Republic Government) in the end of 2006” which stated that the SARG ended that year much stronger both domestically and internationally. Undeterred  by Assad’s popularity, the cable went on to describe more possible ways of undermining the government while promoting destabilization and fomenting sectarian distrust and rebellion among the Sunni majority. In 2007, President GW Bush and Eliot Abrams met with leaders of the Syrian ex-pat Muslim Brotherhood to enlist more help in undermining President Assad. From 2006-2010, the US spent millions on training “activists and journalists” to use to do the same. Also in 2007, General Wesley Clark revealed the neocons’ plan to “take out” Iraq, Libya, Lebanon, Syria, Somalia, Sudan and Iran immediately after 9/11. Qaddafi’s brutal death allowed the CIA and State Department to transfer weapons from Libya to waiting “rebels” in Syria; weapons that were stockpiled in Saudi sponsored radicalized mosques. The narrative of brutal crackdowns against protestors in Syria is a myth; Gary Gambill’s malignant but accurate on facts “Two Cheers for Syrian Islamists” in Foreign Policy from 2012 reveals the reality:

    For starters, the Assad regime would not be in the trouble it’s in today were it not for the Islamists. Though the March 2011 uprising was initially broad-based, the Arab world’s most sophisticated internal security apparatus easily pacified protesters outside of heavily Sunni areas. But the mixture of faith and politics proved impossible to contain: Since banning Muslims from attending prayers was politically unthinkable, mosques became the focal points of massive anti-government demonstrations that quickly overwhelmed the regime’s capacity to clear the streets without bloodshed.

    US Ambassador to Syria Robert Ford was pelted with vegetables by Damascenes, disgusted with his support of violent radical revolutionaries who wanted to establish a  harsh Sharia law state in place of the secular system and society. Father Frans van der Lugt described the attempts by the Syrian Army to keep the peace and prevent bloodshed in Homs in the earliest days of the war and stated, “The protesters shot first.” Father Frans was executed by Al Nusra shortly before the Syrian Army took back full control of Homs in 2014.

    Syria fights against terrorists and propaganda.

    Brands goes on to falsely summarize the current situation in Syria as one of increasing brutality by government forces against “rebels” in the eastern part of the Ghouta suburb outside Damascus. He fails to mention that he wouldn’t want any of these “rebels” living in his neighborhood. The groups controlling eastern Ghouta – Jaysh al Islam, Ahrar al Sham, Al Rahman, Tahrir al Sham, and Al Nusra – are all Islamist extremists that have been committing horrifying atrocities for seven years against the Syrian population. Massacres, beheadings, torture, kidnapping of thousands, looting in the areas they’ve “liberated” while imposing harsh sharia law through violence and intimidation on residents; also continual mortars, snipers, exploding bullets, suicide and car bombings in civilian areas in Damascus are the calling cards of these US and allies’ supported “freedom fighters”. In eastern Ghouta, Alawites and Christians have been driven out or executed and Sunnis standing against their autocratic terrorist rule shared that fate also. The basic character of the “rebels” has been known from the beginning of the conflict which is why such a small percentage of Syrians ever supported this US orchestrated regime change war using terrorist/mercenary/criminal proxy armies to do our dirty work. Gambill unabashedly summed up the US war mongers’ thinking in the 2012 FP article referred to above, “Two Cheers for Syrian Islamists” in which he notes how the “rebel” groups are all jihadists while blithely asserting, “Fortunately, while the Islamist surge will not be a picnic for the Syrian people, it has two important silver linings for U.S. interests.” Gambill went on to praise terrorists as being more effective fighters than secular counterparts with a talent for “shattering the calm” of civilians in Damascus and Aleppo; and he anticipated a Sunni Islamist surge inflicting a “full-blown strategic defeat on Iran.” Iran, a country that hasn’t invaded another one in about 200 years, that is zero actual threat to the US, that is in full compliance with the terms of the nuclear deal, and who helped defeat terrorists and saved Christians as well as Muslims in Syria is, according to American Centurions, the greatest threat to our personal freedoms.

    The reports of chemical weapons use and supposed evidence of course come from these Islamist jihadists also yet their allegations are never questioned by most journalists. Neither are the possible motives behind the allegations. In fact, the Syrian government has been accused of using prohibited weapons whenever they are making great gains via conventional warfare and usually before international negotiations/peace talks, presumably against women and children just out of sheer spite against civilians in attacks that serve no purpose other than to give the radical militants more PR leverage and provide justification for even greater US involvement against Syria. Keep in mind, five and half years after the attack on the US compound in Benghazi, the US government claims we don’t really know what happened there; yet within hours of supposed chemical weapons attacks in areas completely controlled by terrorist groups, US officials immediately declare the culprit and cause. Hysterical hyperbole begins again with professed outrage for another “crime against humanity” and feigned sympathy for the victims while exhibiting convenient forgetfulness that the CIA helped Saddam Hussein launch some of the worst chemical weapons attacks in history against Iran and continues to use depleted uranium munitions.

    Brands then refers to “aerial clashes” between Israeli, Iranian and Syrian forces. Israel has boasted of making over 100 illegal aerial attacks in Syria, most often illegally using Lebanese airspace to do them and for reconnaissance. Iranian forces are in Syria at the request of the Syrian government and have been effectively fighting ISIS and Al Qaeda there. Not so Israel. Their head of Military Intelligence, Major General Herzl Levi, stated in a public forum that Israel does not want ISIS defeated in Syria. Journalist Richard Silverstein reported on the apology ISIS made when they mistakenly fired on Israeli forces. In his “BREAKING: Former Israeli Defense Minister Confirms Israeli Collaboration with ISIS in Syria” article in Tikun Olam of April 23, 2017, Silverstein said,

    Some critics claim that an ISIS apology doesn’t signify an alliance or serious collaboration between the Islamist group and Israel.  To which I reply–when you bomb an ally you apologize.  When you bomb an enemy–you don’t.  What does that make ISIS to Israel? Further, when was the last time an Islamist terror group apologized for firing bullets at Jews or Israelis?

    In the same article, Silverstein reported on former Israeli Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon’s unapologetic statements in a video interview regarding Israel’s support for Al Qaeda affiliated terrorist groups in Syria. Israel’s intentions and actions show a clear policy as summarized by Alon Pinkas, former Israeli consul general in New York:

    This is a playoff situation in which you need both teams to lose, but at least you don’t want one to win — we’ll settle for a tie. Let them both (the Syrian government and militant in addition to the Syrian people) bleed, hemorrhage to death: that’s the strategic thinking here. As long as this lingers, there’s no real threat from Syria. (Israel Backs Limited Strike Against Syria, NYT, September 5, 2013)

    So Israel’s stance is this: hundreds of thousands dead?  Who cares? The threat of Syria being ruled by terrorists? No problem, as that would also mean greater justification for any future aggression against that state. They make deals and help Al Qaeda and ISIS in order to disrupt supply lines to Hezbollah so their long-held ambition to control Lebanon might be achieved. Oil was discovered in the Golan so along with its great water resources and strategic position, Israel covets finalizing their stealing of that land from Syria.

    The first paragraph ends with a mention of the recent confrontation between “American airpower and Russian ‘mercenaries.’” In fact there were few Russians involved, if any. Christoph Reuter in Spiegal Online, “The Truth About the Russian Deaths in Syria” summarized the findings of a two-week long investigation into the incident interviewing witnesses and participants in the battle:

    The situation on the ground between Khusham and Tabiya on the eastern bank of the Euphrates, described by a half dozen witnesses and people who were party to the events, does not confirm Russian mercenary participation in the attack or even that they joined the fighting at all. 

    But the greatest proofs of how far from reality Brands’ statements are would be the situations in Aleppo and Homs today, after their liberation from US and allies’ backed terrorist militias. Homs was freed from almost all groups in 2014 and Aleppo at the end of 2016. I’ve been in Homs four times and Aleppo twice in the past two years. In both cities, displaced persons have been returning; hundreds of thousands went back home to Aleppo just in 2017. Businesses and factories, schools, medical facilities, and homes are being rebuilt quickly. One friend of mine in Aleppo said it’s almost boring living there now without the mortars, suicide and car bombs, exploding bullets, chlorine gas attacks etc., that the west’s “moderate rebels” attacked the civilians with almost daily.

    So after Brands introduces his topic with a blitzkrieg of inaccuracies in just the first paragraph, he finally says something in the second that is accurate, though not in the way he intends it.

    Yes, the Syrian conflict remains “an appalling human catastrophe” for the reasons mentioned above – because the US decided to try to remove the popular President Assad when he refused to submit to Israel-favoring dictates, and to replace him with head chopping, torturing, raping, kidnapping, looting thugs who imposed harsh sharia law through violence and intimidation wherever they “liberated” in safe and secular Syria. One of the armed groups, who received direct US support with weapons, including sophisticated TOW anti-tank missiles, is Ahrar al Sham who lines the streets of their areas with billboards that read, “Democracy is polytheism.” Just about everyone in Syria wanted and still wants reforms in the government including President Assad; but only a tiny percentage of Syrians wanted a total take out of the government Iraq or Libya style. I’m often told Syrians are too afraid to criticize their government – another fable – they’re quite forceful in voicing frustration particularly regarding corruption that’s increased during the war and against the inevitable war profiteering that happens in every conflict. Another common complaint is that President Bashar really should have been ruthless in stopping the “revolution” early on; but the west’s war loving propaganda outlets of BBC, CNN, Fox and the rest, along with Qatar’s pro-Muslim Brotherhood Al Jazeera and Saudi Arabia’s pro-Wahhabi/Salafi Al Arabiya produced and marketed the fake “brutal crackdown” narrative nonetheless.

    The American Century dies in millennia-old Syria

    The true, core statement in Brands’ otherwise alternate-reality piece is this: “More significantly, Syria is the nexus for the destabilizing trends that are thrusting the entire global order into crisis.”

    In that he is correct. The American Century, the reckless, arrogant, greedy, short-sighted US together with NATO partners particularly Britain and France, its allies/clients of  Israel, the terrorist-sponsoring Persian Gulf States and originally, in its heady ambition to control the world’s petrol-based economy, Erdogan of Turkey as well as the Muslim Brotherhood, finally met its match in the Deep Civilization of Syria and its allies of Iran, Russia and China (each with their own agenda of course). You see, the problem with the US plans for Syria was this: Most Syrians saw through it and rejected it saying, “No thanks” together with most of the army and its Commander in Chief. Their allies, Iran and Hezbollah, Russia and China also proved willing to face the wrath of the US.

    Too many Syrians, it turns out, have that Syrian ‘savvy’ that comes from being rooted in a land that has been coveted, traversed, invaded, and occupied by empires since the first imperial wars of the Egyptians and Hittites. For seven years the Syrians have been suffering, dying, and mourning but they’ve stood against the lies and sponsored terrorists of the American Century war mongers. With the imminent victory in east Ghouta, the illegal regime change war based on lies, like Iraq and Libya, is almost over, and the utterly hypocritical, aggressive, greedy age of the American Century is also.

    And that’s a very good thing.

    Is it a coincidence that the world’s foremost terror organization is being revived just as the US struggles under a multi-front assault on its hegemony in West Asia? More curiously, both ISIS and Washington’s targets are exactly the same.

    Iraqi security sources are warning of an ISIS revival in the country, which coincides all too neatly with the spike in Iraqi resistance operations against US bases in Iraq and Syria, and with widening regional instability caused by Israel’s military assault on Gaza.

    More than six years after declaring victory over the terrorist organization, Iraqi intelligence reports now indicate that thousands of ISIS fighters are emerging unscathed, under the protection of US forces in two regions of western Iraq.

    The missing piece of the puzzle

    According to intelligence reports reviewed by The Cradle, at its height, ISIS consisted of more than 35,000 fighters in Iraq – 25,000 of these were killed, while more than 10,000 simply “disappeared.

    As an officer of one Iraqi intelligence agency recounts to The Cradle:

    “Hundreds of ISIS fighters fled to Turkey and Syria at the end of 2017. After the appointment of Abdullah Qardash as the leader of ISIS in 2019, following the death of Caliph Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the new Caliph began to restructure the organization, and ordered his followers to return to Iraq. The organization exploited the long border with Syria, the security disturbances, and the diversity of forces on both sides of the border to infiltrate the Iraqi territory again.”

    Imprisoned ISIS officials admit that infiltrating that border is not an easy task, because of the strict control imposed by the Iraqi Border Guards and the use of modern technologies, such as thermal cameras.

    It therefore became necessary for the terror group to identify intermediaries capable of breaking through or bypassing these fortifications to transport its fighters across borders

    An Iraqi security source, insisting on anonymity, tells The Cradle that the US plays a vital role in enabling these border violations:

    “[There are] several incidents that confirm the American assistance in securing the crossing route for ISIS members – mainly, by shelling Iraqi units on the border, especially the Popular Mobilization Units (PMUs), to create gaps that allow ISIS fighters to cross the border.”

    The Iraqi security source adds that there are confirmed reports of US Chinook helicopters transporting fighters from eastern Syria to the Anbar desert in western Iraq and Jebel Hamreen, in the country’s east.

    Munir Adib, a researcher specializing in Islamist movements, extremist organizations, and international terrorism, confirms the possibility of the return of ISIS after the organization’s “dozens of attacks in Syria and Iraq in the past few weeks,” which led to the death of tens of civilians and soldiers.

    According to Adib, “the international community’s preoccupation with the Gaza and Russia-Ukraine wars gave ISIS an opportunity to reorganize its ranks, while continuing to receive internal and external logistical support.”

    Manufacturing and harboring terrorism

    Houran Valley is the largest of its kind in Iraq, extending 369 kilometers from the Iraqi-Saudi border to the Euphrates River near the city of Haditha in Anbar Governorate. Its topography is marked by soaring cliffs ranging in height between 150 to 200 meters, and includes the hills surrounding the valley and the sub-valleys that extend into its surroundings.

    The valley was and still is one of the most dangerous security environments in the state. Terrorist groups use it as a safe haven because of its desert terrain, and distance from congested urban areas. The valley and its environs have witnessed numerous security incidents, most notably in December 2013, when ISIS killed the commander of the Iraqi army’s Seventh Division, his assistant, the director of intelligence in Anbar Governorate, eight officers, and thirteen soldiers.

    Iraqi MP Hassan Salem has called for launching a military operation to clear Houran Valley of terrorist fighters. He confirmed to The Cradle that “there are thousands of ISIS members in the valley receiving training in private camps, under American protection,” noting that US forces have “transferred to this area hundreds of ISIS members of different nationalities.”

    US foreign policy, of course, is rife with historical evidence of the creation of proxy armed militias in West Asia and Latin America, often utilizing these organizations to overthrow governments in target countries. We know Washington has no aversion to allying with Islamist extremists largely because of its direct involvement with arming and financing the Afghan Mujahideen, from which the Taliban and Al Qaeda emerged.

    An early US-ISIS connection exists quite clearly: the terrorist group’s founding and second rank leaders were among the inmates of Camp Bucca prison in southern Iraq, an internment facility run by the US military. The roster of high-value terrorists captured, then set free by the Americans is quite extraordinary: ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, his successor Abu Ibrahim al-Hashimi al-Qurashi, Abu Mohammed al-Adnani, Abu Muslim al-Turkmani, Haji Bakr, Abu Abdulrahman al-Bilawi, Abu Ayman al-Iraqi, among others.

    Camp Bucca, known for abuses against its detainees, brought together extremist elements, slow-boiled this combustive formula for six years (2003-2009), then let the now well-networked extremists go free.

    The religious officials of ISIS even say they used their time at the prison to obtain vows from prisoners to join the terrorist group after their release.

    US intelligence also protected the terrorist organization indirectly, by allowing ISIS convoys to move between the cities that were under its control. Other forms of protection, according to Iraqi security experts, include refusing to implement death sentences issued by Iraqi courts against detained ISIS members, and establishing safe havens for the organization’s members in western and eastern Iraq.

    ISIS: US foot soldiers in the regional war

    In a speech on 5 January, Hezbollah Secretary General Hassan Nasrallah warned that the US was supporting an ISIS revival in the region.

    The Cradle obtained security information monitoring the new activity of extremists in Lebanon, communications between these elements and their counterparts in Iraq and Syria, and suspicious money transfer activities among them.

    Lebanese Army Intelligence also recently arrested a group of Lebanese and Syrians who were preparing to carry out security operations.

    Importantly, this surge in terror activities comes at a time when the Lebanese resistance is engaged in a security and military battle with Israel, which may expand at any moment into open war. It is also notable that renewed ISIS activity is concentrated in Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, and Iran; that is, in the countries that support the Palestinian resistance politically, militarily, and logistically.

    On 4 January, ISIS officially claimed responsibility for two bombings in the Iranian city of Kerman that targeted memorial processions on the anniversary of the assassination of Quds Force Commander Qassem Soleimani by US forces. The dual explosions killed around 90 people and injured dozens, in an unprecedented attack targeting the biggest US-Israeli adversary in West Asia – just one day after Tel Aviv killed top Hamas leader Saleh al-Arouri in Beirut.

    Before that, on 5 October 2023, ISIS drone-attacked an officers graduation ceremony at the Military College in the Syrian city of Homs, killing about 100 peopleThese attacks, and others in Iraq, Syria, Iran, Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Africa, indicate that fresh blood, money, and weapons are being pumped into the ISIS organization’s arteries again.

    A high-ranking PMU officer, who asked to remain unnamed, tells The Cradle that US forces are preventing Iraqi forces from approaching Houran Valley by attacking any security forces approaching the area. “This happened when American aircraft targeted units of the PMU that were attacking ISIS in the region,” he reveals, citing intelligence reports confirming the presence of dozens of ISIS members and other extremist organizations in the valley, where they receive training and equipment from US forces.

    Security sources in the Anbar Operations Command confirm this information:

    “Noticeable activity by the organization had been recorded a few weeks ago in the west of the country. Near the Rutba desert, ISIS fighters were spotted digging underground hideouts. Information indicates that the organization is in the process of carrying out terrorist operations in many locations,” they tell The Cradle.

    Concurrently, ISIS is expanding its operations in the east of Iraq, within the geographical triangle that includes eastern Salah al-Din Governorate, north-eastern Diyala, and southern Kirkuk, particularly in the geographically challenging Makhoul, Hamrin, Ghurra, Wadi al-Shay, and Zaghitoun areas.

    It should be noted that US forces are deployed in Iraq under the umbrella of the International Coalition to Combat ISIS. Last week, four years after the Iraqi parliament first voted to expel foreign forces, Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammad Shia al-Sudani weighed in on the “destabilizing” impact of US troops and demanded a “quick and orderly” exit of those combat units.

    Washington not only countered by saying it has “no plans” to withdraw from Iraq, but announced on 14 January that it would be sending an additional 1,500 troops to Iraq and Syria illegally, and without the consent of either nation.

    One irony here is that ISIS appears to regain momentum each and every time Baghdad raises the issue of US military withdrawal from Iraq.

    It can also no longer be seen as a coincidence that the terror group is now re-assembling its forces to target Washington and Tel Aviv’s most capable regional foes – the Axis of Resistance – just when the US and Israel are struggling to handle a region-wide, multi-front assault from the Axis.

    The extraordinary synergies between the Americans and the world’s foremost terror group can no longer be ignored: their targets are one and the same, and ISIS is only now entering the fray, just as Washington begins to lose its hold on West Asia.

    Introductory Note

    In 2014 President Obama launched  a “counter-terrorism campaign” allegedly directed against The Islamic State (ISIS-Daesh). The operation consisted  in providing a justification for the extensive bombing of Iraq and Syria, largely targeting residential areas and civilians.  

    In turn, ISIS-Daesh was covertly supported and funded by the U.S. and its allies including Israel.  

    Israel was directly involved in President Obama’s “counter-terrorism” bombing raids directed against Syria, while also supporting Al Qaeda and ISIS mercenaries out of the Golan Heights. (See 13 below).

    Going after ” Islamic terrorists”, carrying out a worldwide pre-emptive war to “Protect the American Homeland” are used to justify a military agenda.

    The Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) is a creation of US intelligence. Washington’s “Counter-terrorism Agenda” in Iraq and Syria consists in Supporting the Terrorists.

    The incursion of the Islamic State (IS) brigades into Iraq starting in June 2014 was part of a carefully planned military-intelligence operation supported covertly by the US, NATO and Israel.

    The counter-terrorism mandate is a fiction. America is the Number One “State Sponsor of Terrorism” 

    The Islamic State is protected by the US and its allies. If they had wanted to eliminate the Islamic State brigades, they could have “carpet” bombed their convoys of Toyota pickup trucks when they crossed the desert from Syria into Iraq in June.

    The  Syro-Arabian Desert is open territory (see map below). With state of the art jet fighter aircraft (F15, F22 Raptor, CF-18) it would have been  -from a military standpoint-  a rapid and expedient surgical operation  

    It could not have been undertaken without the unbending support of  the Western media which has upheld Obama’s initiative as a counter-terrorism operation.  

    Twenty Six Things 

    THE HISTORICAL ORIGINS OF AL QAEDA

    1. The US has supported Al Qaeda and its affiliated organizations for almost half a century since the heyday of the Soviet Afghan war. 

    2. CIA training camps were set up in Pakistan. In the ten year period from 1982 to 1992, some 35,000 jihadists from 43 Islamic countries were recruited by the CIA to fight in the Afghan jihad.

    “Advertisements, paid for from CIA funds, were placed in newspapers and newsletters around the world offering inducements and motivations to join the Jihad.”

    3Since the Reagan Administration, Washington has supported the Islamic terror network.

    Ronald Reagan called the terrorists “freedom fighters”. The US supplied weapons to the Islamic brigades.  It was all for “a good cause”: fighting the Soviet Union and regime change, leading to the demise of a secular government in Afghanistan.

    4. Jihadist textbooks  were  published by the University of Nebraska. “. “The United States spent millions of dollars to supply Afghan schoolchildren with textbooks filled with violent images and militant Islamic teachings”

    5. Osama bin Laden, America’s bogyman and founder of Al Qaeda was recruited by the CIA in 1979 at the very outset of the US sponsored jihadist war against Afghanistan . He was 22 years old and was trained in a CIA sponsored guerilla training camp.

    Al Qaeda was not behind the 9/11 Attacks. September 11, 2001 provided a justification for waging a war against Afghanistan on the grounds that Afghanistan was a state sponsor of terrorism, supportive of Al Qaeda. The 9/11 attacks were instrumental in the formulation of the “Global War on Terrorism”.

    THE ISLAMIC STATE (ISIL)

    6. The Islamic State (ISIL) was originally an Al Qaeda affiliated entity created by US intelligence with the support of Britain’s MI6, Israel’s Mossad, Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and Saudi Arabia’s General Intelligence Presidency (GIP), Ri’āsat Al-Istikhbārāt Al-’Āmah ( رئاسة الاستخبارات العامة‎).

    7. The ISIL brigades were involved in the US-NATO supported insurgency in Syria directed against the government of  Bashar al Assad.

    8.  NATO and the Turkish High Command were responsible for the recruitment of ISIL and Al Nusrah mercenaries from the outset of the Syrian insurgency in March 2011. According to Israeli intelligence sources, this initiative consisted in:

    “a campaign to enlist thousands of Muslim volunteers in Middle East countries and the Muslim world to fight alongside the Syrian rebels. The Turkish army would house these volunteers, train them and secure their passage into Syria.” (DEBKAfile, NATO to give rebels anti-tank weapons, August 14, 2011.)

    9.There are Western Special Forces and Western intelligence operatives within the ranks of the ISIL. British Special Forces and MI6 have been involved in training jihadist rebels in Syria.

    10. Western military specialists on contract to the Pentagon have trained the terrorists in the use of chemical weapons.

    “The United States and some European allies are using defense contractors to train Syrian rebels on how to secure chemical weapons stockpiles in Syria, a senior U.S. official and several senior diplomats told CNN Sunday.” ( CNN Report, December 9, 2012)

    11. The ISIL’s practice of beheadings is part of the US sponsored terrorist training programs implemented in Saudi Arabia and Qatar.

    12. Recruited by America’s ally, a large number of ISIL mercenaries are convicted criminals released from Saudi prisons on condition they join the ISILSaudi death row inmates were recruited to join the terror brigades. 

    13. Israel  has supported  the ISIL and Al Nusrah brigades out of the Golan Heights.

    Jihadist fighters have met Israeli IDF officers as well as Prime Minister Netanyahu. The IDF top brass tacitly acknowledges that “global jihad elements inside Syria” [ISIL and Al Nusrah] are supported by Israel. See  image below:

    SYRIA AND IRAQ

    14 The ISIL are the foot soldiers  of the Western military alliance. Their unspoken mandate is to wreck havoc and destruction in Syria and Iraq, acting on behalf of their US sponsors.

    15. US Senator John McCain has met up with jihadist terrorist leaders in Syria. (see picture right)

    16  The Islamic State (IS) militia, which is currently the alleged target of  a US-NATO bombing campaign under a “counter-terrorism” mandate, continues to be supported covertly by the US.  Washington and its allies continue to provide military aid to the Islamic State.

    17. US and allied bombings are not targeting the ISIL, they are bombing the economic infrastructure of Iraq and Syria including factories and oil refineries.

    18.  The IS caliphate project is part of a longstanding US foreign policy agenda to carve up Iraq and Syria into separate territories: A Sunni Islamist Caliphate, an Arab Shia Republic, a Republic of Kurdistan.

    THE GLOBAL WAR ON TERRORISM (GWOT)

    19. “The Global War on Terrorism” (GWOT) is presented as a “Clash of Civilizations”, a war between competing values and religions, when in reality it is an outright war of conquest, guided by strategic and economic objectives.

    20 U.S. sponsored Al Qaeda terror brigades (covertly supported by Western intelligence) have been deployed in Mali, Niger, Nigeria, the Central African Republic, Somalia and Yemen.

    These various affiliated Al Qaeda entities in the Middle East, sub-Saharan Africa  and Asia are CIA sponsored “intelligence assets”. They are used by Washington to wreck havoc,  create internal conflicts and destabilize sovereign countries.

    21 Boko Haram in Nigeria, Al Shabab in Somalia, the Libya Islamic Fighting Group (LIFG) (supported by NATO in 2011),  Al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM),  Jemaah Islamiah (JI) in Indonesia,  among other Al Qaeda affiliated groups are supported covertly by Western intelligence.

    22. The US is also supporting Al Qaeda affiliated terrorist organizations in the Xinjiang Uighur autonomous region of China. The underlying objective is to trigger political instability in Western China.

    Chinese jihadists are reported to have received “terrorist training” from the Islamic State “in order to conduct attacks in China”. The declared objective of these Chinese-based jihadist entities (which serves the interests of the US)  is to establish a Islamic caliphate extending into Western China.  (Michel Chossudovsky, America’s War on Terrorism, Global Research, Montreal, 2005, Chapter 2).

    HOMEGROWN TERRORISTS

    23 The Terrorists R Us:  While the US is the unspoken architect of the Islamic State,  Obama’s holy mandate is to protect America against ISIL attacks.

    24 The homegrown terrorist threat is a fabrication.  It is promoted by Western governments and the media with a view to repealing civil liberties and installing a police state. The terror attacks by alleged jihadists and terror warnings are invariably staged events. They are used to create an atmosphere of fear and intimidation.

    In turn, the arrests, trials and sentences of “Islamic terrorists” sustain the legitimacy of America’s Homeland Security State and law enforcement apparatus, which has become increasingly militarized.

    The ultimate objective is to instill in the minds of millions of Americans that the enemy is real and the U.S. Administration will protect the lives of its citizens.

    25.  The “counter-terrorism” campaign against the Islamic State has contributed to the demonization of Muslims, who in the eyes of Western public opinion are increasingly  associated with the jihadists.

    26  Anybody who dares to question the validity of the “Global War on Terrorism” is branded a terrorist and subjected to the anti-terrorist laws.

    The ultimate objective of the “Global War on Terrorism” is to subdue the citizens, totally depoliticize social life in America, prevent people from thinking and conceptualizing, from analyzing facts and challenging the legitimacy of the inquisitorial social order which rules America.

    The Obama Administration has imposed a diabolical consensus with the support of its allies, not to mention the complicit role of the United Nations Security Council.  The Western media has embraced the consensus; it has described the Islamic State as an independent entity, an outside enemy which threatens the Western World.

    The Big Lie has become the Truth. 

    Say no to the “Big Lie”. Spread the message.

    The truth is ultimately a powerful weapon.

    Americans have been repeatedly told that Al Qaeda under the helm of the late Osama bin Laden was responsible for the 9/11 attacks.

    Formulated in the wake of the tragic events of september 11, 2001, the U.S. and its allies launched a “Global War on Terrorism” (GWOT) directed against the numerous “jihadist” Al Qaeda affiliated terror formations in the Middle East, Africa, Central Asia and South East Asia. The first stage of the “Global War on Terrorism” was the bombing and invasion of Afghanistan.

    In the wake of 9/11, the” Global War on Terrorism” served to obfuscate the real economic and strategic objectives behind the US-led wars in the Middle East and Central Asia.

    The Patriot legislation was implemented. The national security doctrine stated unequivocally that the American Homeland was to be protected against “Islamic terrorists”.

    For the last 13 years, war on terrorism rhetoric has permeated political discourse at all levels of government. Al Qaeda related threats and occurrences are explained –by politicians, the corporate media, Hollywood and the Washington think tanks– under a single blanket “bad guys” heading, in which Al Qaeda (“the outside enemy of America”) is casually and repeatedly pinpointed as “the cause” of numerous terror events around the World.

    But somehow, in the last few months, this  “Al Qaeda paradigm” has shifted. The American public has become increasingly skeptical regarding the validity of the “Global War on Terrorism”

    In recent months, with the unfolding events in Syria, something rather unusual has occurred, which has had a profound impact on the public’s perception and understanding of Obama’s “Global War on Terrorism”.

    The US government is actively and openly supporting Syria’s Al Nusrah, the main fighting force affiliated to al Qaeda, largely composed of foreign mercenaries.

    Tax dollars are relentlessly channeled to the “rebels”. In turn, Secretary of State John Kerry meets with rebel commanders who oversee the Al Qaeda affiliated entity.

    Is this part of a “new normal”: the unity of opposites whereby “terrorism” and “counter-terrorism” are merged into a single foreign policy focus?

    Is it “politically correct” for a US Senator to mingle with leaders of a terrorist organization, while at the same time paying lip service to the “Global War on Terrorism”?

    While this may be “business as usual” for the US Secretary of State, American servicemen and women are now “refusing to fight” a war in favor of terrorism under the emblem of the “Global War on Terrorism”.

    Channeling money and weapons to Al Qaeda in Syria is carried out “in the open”, via the US State Department and the Pentagon rather than in the context of a covert CIA operation.

    The Movement within the US Armed Forces

    Needless to say, this mingling of politicians and terrorists strikes at the very foundations of the “Global War on Terrorism”.

    Despite the tide of media disinformation, people are increasingly aware that these US sponsored rebels are not “revolutionaries” and that US military aid is being channeled to the terror brigades.

    A spontaneous movement on social media networks has emerged involving active members of the armed forces.

    “I will not fight for al Qaeda”.

    “Obama, I will not fight for your al Qaeda rebels in Syria.”

     

    “Our government tells us that we are fighting a war on terrorism.” That is what is taught to new recruits in the Armed Forces. “We’re spreading democracy by combating terrorism”.

    Yet in recent months, millions of Americans have become aware of the fact that the Obama administration is lying.

    Supporting the Terrorists

    Barack Obama and John Kerry are not fighting terrorism. Quite the opposite: They are actively supporting Al Qaeda terrorists in Syria, who are responsible for the most despicable crimes, killings and atrocities directed against the civilian population.

    These crimes have been amply documented.  Beheadings, executions of children. The most gruesome massacres.

    The Al Nusrah brigades have performed thousands of executions. A recently released video reveals how two young boys are executed following the reading of a death sentence.”In the video can be seen a terrorist reading death sentence to the boys, gunfire is heard, boys fall dead.”

     

    Are these the people who are being supported by the US government?

    The terrorists are directly recruited by the Western military alliance.  They are trained in Saudi Arabia and Qatar in liaison with the US and NATO.

    These are the rebels who, according to CNN, have also been trained by Western special forces in the use of chemical weapons. And they have used chemical weapons against innocent Syrian civilians.

    US servicemen and women are adamant. “I did not join the army to fight for al Qaeda.”

    We were recruited to wage a “Global War on Terrorism” and now our government is collaborating with Al Qaeda.

    Congressman Dennis Kucinich said “striking Syria would make the U.S. Military ‘Al-Qaeda’s Air Force’”.

    The concept which is spreading across the land is that the Obama administration is supporting Al Qaeda.

    It’s a bipartisan consensus: the Republican leadership in the US Congress and the Senate have endorsed support and financial aid to the al Nusrah brigades in Syria.

    In the eyes of public opinion, the Global War on Terrorism has, so to speak, fallen flat.

    Who is Supporting Whom? Who is Waging a War of Aggression?

    The spontaneous movement in the armed forces is based on the notion that the “US government is supporting al Qaeda”.

    The corporate media has failed to reveal the nature of the longstanding relationship between Al Qaeda and the US government, which goes back to the Soviet-Afghan war.

    Al Qaeda –the “outside enemy of America” as well as the alleged architect of the 9/11 attacks– is a creation of the CIA. Al Qaeda and its affiliates are often referred to as “intelligence assets”

    From the outset of the Soviet-Afghan war in the early 1980s, the US intelligence apparatus has supported the formation of “Islamic brigades”.

    Propaganda purports to erase the history of Al Qaeda, drown the truth and “kill the evidence” on how this “outside enemy” was fabricated and transformed into “Enemy Number One”.

    The Global War on Terrorism is not geared towards curbing the “Islamic jihad”.  The significant development of “radical Islam” in the wake of the Cold War was consistent with Washington’s hidden agenda. The latter consists in sustaining rather than combating international terrorism, with a view to creating factional divisions within countries and destabilizing national societies.

    The numerous al Qaeda affiliated entities are routinely used in CIA covert operations. They are recruited, trained and indoctrinated under the supervision of the CIA and its intelligence counterparts in Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Qatar and Israel. Unknown to the American public, the US has spread the teachings of the “Islamic jihad” in textbooks “Made in America”, developed at the University of Nebraska

    Al Qaeda is an intelligence asset which serves the interests of the US administration.

    With regard to Syria, the US government is not “supporting Al Qaeda” Quite the opposite, the Al Qaeda mercenaries in Syria, recruited and trained in Saudi Arabia and Qatar,  are “supporting the US government”. They are being used by the US military intelligence apparatus. They are paid killers.

    Their actions are implemented as part of a military agenda; they are the foot-soldiers of the Western military alliance. The atrocities committed by the terrorists are the direct result of paramilitary training and indoctrination. The US government is behind this process. Obama is responsible for the crimes committed by the “rebels” against the Syrian people.

    Concluding Remarks

    We are at an important crossroads. The “Global War on Terrorism” constitutes the cornerstone of war propaganda. Yet at the same time the lies which uphold the GWOT are no longer credible and the thrust and effectiveness of the propaganda campaign are threatened.

    No one can reasonably believe in a “war on terrorism” which consists in channeling money and weapons to the terrorists. Its a non sequitur.

    “Support to terrorists”, portrayed as “revolutionaries” cannot be heralded as part of a foreign policy agenda which officially consists in “going after the terrorists”.

    But Obama desperately needs to hold on to the “Global war on Terrorism”. It’s the cornerstone of US military doctrine. It’s a worldwide crusade.

    Without the “Global War on Terrorism”, the Obama administration does not have a leg to stand on: its military doctrine collapses like a deck of cards.

    Undermining the credibility of the “Global War on Terrorism” is a powerful instrument of counter-propaganda.

    We call on people across the land: Mobilize against Obama’s war.

    The war on Syria is illegal and criminal.

    The President and Commander in Chief’s decision to support Al Qaeda in Syria is in violation of international law and US anti terrorism legislation .

    US and coalition troops have a moral and legal obligation to refuse to fight in Obama’s “humanitarian war” on Syria, which consists in supporting Al Qaeda affiliated terrorists.

    The President and Commander in Chief has blatantly violated all tenets of domestic and international law. So that making an oath to “obey orders from the President” is tantamount to violating rather than defending the US Constitution.

    “The moral and legal obligation is to the U.S. Constitution and not to those who would issue unlawful orders, especially if those orders are in direct violation of the Constitution and the UCMJ.” (Mosqueda, US troops have “A Duty To Disobey all Unlawful orders”. http://www.globalresearch.ca/articles/MOS303A.html )

    “Refusing to fight” an illegal war implies a rejection of the legitimacy of the Commander in Chief.  It denies the Obama administration the authority to conduct an illegal and criminal war on behalf of the American people.

    And the American people must support the US servicemen and women who refuse to fight in an illegal war.

    Obama is a war criminal. He is supporting terrorists, who are his paid killers. Amply documented Syria’s rebels have been trained in the use of chemical weapons and they have used chemical weapons against innocent civilians.

    The Global War on Terrorism is a fabrication and a lie.

    War is an illegal undertaking.

    According to Nuremberg jurisprudence, the ultimate war crime consists in starting a war. Obama and his European counterparts including David Cameron and Francois Hollande are responsible for the supreme crime: “the crime against peace.” This war is illegal irrespective of a decision of the UN Security Council to intervene in the internal affairs of a sovereign state:

    All Members shall refrain in their international relations from the threat or use of force against the territorial integrity or political independence of any state, or in any other manner inconsistent with the Purposes of the United Nations…   Nothing contained in the present Charter shall authorize the United Nations to intervene in matters which are essentially within the domestic jurisdiction of any state or shall require the Members to submit such matters to settlement under the present Charter.” UN Charter – 1: Purposes and Principles

    “What did we learn from this vicious war against Syria, during which the Syrian Army, its allies, and friends held fast, giving hundreds of thousands of martyrs, wounded, displaced, and untold destruction? What did the Arab World learn from similar western-terrorist wars against Iraq, Libya, Yemen, and Sudan? What did the Arabs learn from the suffering of the Palestinian people, whose experience in the struggle against racist colonial zionists is comparable only to the struggle of the people of South Africa against apartheid? Did the ongoing battles prevent everyone from learning lessons, and therefore events might replicate themselves year after year?     Did we have to wait until today to learn that tens of thousands of foreign terrorists crossed the Turkish, Jordanian, and Lebanese borders into Syria, funded and armed by Saudi Arabia and Israel? Did we have to wait the nearing of their defeat in order to prepare accurate studies about their nationalities and the parties that funded them and sponsored them to reach their destination? Did we have to wait and see how ISIS hands over its positions in Raqqa and Deir al-Zor to US forces and the SDF mercenary, or did we need to examine carefully how ISIS handed its territory to the Peshmerga years ago without a fight? Should these events, after they were proven as facts, remain up for media debate, or should they become legal cases to be raised in internal and subsequently international tribunals against the parties involved in this overreaching criminal act? The question is how could this have been done in the past, and how could it actually be done in the future?

    I pose these questions today because I see a change in the scenarios that target us, with a new wave coming, which in itself will not be the last one. Especially that the hypocrisy that blinded everyone at the beginning of the war against Iraq, Syria, Yemen, and Libya is being practiced again in regard to the Kurdistan referendum, as the countries that stand behind the plans to dismember the Arab Nation pretend to be against the referendum, while actually they support it as a substitute to the earlier terrorist schemes that did not succeed in establishing takfiri states in Syria, Libya, Iraq, and Yemen. The most important lessons that we need to learn from this difficult experience is that war against us takes many facets, and it is wise that we do not ignore any of these facets even during the fiercest military battles. While the Syrian Army and its allies are on the frontline fighting, civilian teams must be set up across the country to support the military effort. We need to have research, media, and legal teams that are ready to devote themselves to support the military forces and face the other facets of the battle on the internal, regional, and international levels. In this regard, research and documentation teams have to be formed since day one, which would get its material from the filed, so that future generation could learn the true history of their country and learn the important lessons. A media research cell should be formed to study all the media directed against the people who are the victims of this terrorist war, in order to study, refute and treat it from media and psychological perspectives, and suggest appropriate responses to protect the soldiers of the Army and their families from the lies of terrorist media machines such as Al Jazeera, al-Arabyia and many others. In addition to these two tracks, it is necessary to establish a human rights cells that examine all these files and evaluate cases against individuals, parties and states involved in supporting criminal terrorism, it should also deal with all UN resolutions issued, and keep the issue alive in the media and the judiciary. These same cells should keep following the actions of countries that violate United Nations resolutions by sponsoring, financing and arming terroirsts, and keep these issues hot in the minds of nations and peoples. That is to say, the main lesson learned from this despicable war against our countries is that we have to organise society since the first day with all its specialities. We must never forget that the educational process should remain in place and that measures should be taken to ensure the continuity and efficiency of the State’s work at all stages. The continued efficiency of the work of the state and the readiness of the people, mobilising them and organising their ranks in all fields constitute the basic guarantee for achieving victory. On this day when terrorists and their masters change their faces, clothes, skins, tools and plans to achieve what they have been unable to accomplish in seven years, it is worth noting that we are on the verge of entering into a new battle of a new kind, aimed at ethnic and sectarian fragmentation, to sow division in service to the Zionist project and its expansion, and the creation of entities similar to it. If we complete this missing link in our battle, we may fight our next battles with greater efficiency and less sacrifices.”
